My husband is very down and he gets like this at least once every 6 months or so. I'm a very happy, upbeat person and I really want to help him but I don't know what the are the right things to do or say. I just tell him its not so bad, lets fix the problems but it doesn't help. How do I help him?

Toddler awake until 4 and 5 am the past few weeks. Wife doesn’t want him to cry at bedtime so we go through the “bath and story and lights out routine, but if he cries, she lets him eat, watch TV, and play until he’s finally tired. I am a 40hr/wk employee and have been frustrated with my 30 minute unpaid lunch break, which is automatically applied once I hit 6.5 hours for that day. Most of the time I do not take that long for a lunch break am usually doing work at my computer simultaneously. More frustratingly, if on a Friday I only have 6.75 hours to work I have to wait 30 minutes for that break to end until I can finish my 15 minutes. I recently found out that only my department has it and my supervisor was unaware that it was just us and no other department. How do I get him to change?

Long story short I’ve interviewed for a job and they told me it’s to replace the person currently in that role who is leaving. I did some digging on LinkedIn and found out that person has only been at the company for 5 months. I find it a bit concerning that they are leaving after so short a time there. Would it be a bad idea to message them and ask them about what it’s like to work there and in that role?
New memo we got. We are required to be in the office 2x a week, and 3x for some. If we need to work from home, it's now counted as an attendance violation/call out and we are not considered "working" so are encouraged to use PTO instead, if necessary. The same tablets we use at home is the one we carry into the office. Is this a new trend or somethin'?
